Cardtronics Completes EDC ATM Acquisition

PaymentsSource | Tuesday, July 26, 2011

Cardtronics Inc.’s wholly owned subsidiary Cardtronics USA Inc. has completed its acquisition of EDC ATM Subsidiary LLC and Efmark Deployment I Inc., the ATM independent sales organization announced July 26.

The company funded the $145 million cash purchase by borrowing under its amended credit facility, according to a new release. Cardtronics announced the deal in June.

With the acquisition, Cardtronics added approximately 3,700 ATMs in U.S. retail locations and ATM branding contracts with some of America’s largest financial institutions. Cardtronics says it now has ATM-branding relationships with eight of the 15 largest U.S. banks based on assets.

Cardtronics says it plans to update its financial guidance for 2011 to include the expected contribution of the EDC business when it issues its second quarter financial results on Aug. 4.
