Priority Payments Becomes An Amex OnePoint Agent

ISO & Agent Weekly | Wednesday, January 11, 2012

Priority Payment Systems LLC has become a certified servicing agent of American Express OnePoint, which provides small and midsize merchants with a single source for statements, settlement and customer service for all major card brands.

As a certified OnePoint service agent, Priority can offer ISOs and agents another approach when selling to merchants, the Alpharetta, Ga.-based processor said in a Jan. 11 press release.

Under their arrangement, American Express will retain the acceptance contract with participating merchants, establish merchant pricing and receive the same transaction information it does today, the release said.

Priority provides payment-processing services to the merchants on behalf of American Express for Amex card transactions under the agreement, according to the release.

“Priority continues to add value not only for our resellers in the field but for our merchants as well,” John. V. Priore, Priority president and CEO, said in the release. “This agreement is a testament to the relationship we have with American Express.”

In the May-June issue we examine value-added products and services. What's the right mix of value-added offerings, and what's new in value-added opportunities? The issue also focuses on the EMV conversion's lack of revenue-enhancing possibilities, the shift toward providing full point-of-sale systems, predictions of merchants' impatience with the fixed acquirer network fee and the threat that comes with PayPal's e-signature deal.
