Vantiv Offering Prepaid MasterCards

ISO & Agent Weekly | Wednesday, November 30, 2011

Transaction processor Vantiv on Nov. 29 introduced its first prepaid program, offering issuers general-purpose reloadable MasterCards.

Issuers may brand the cards, which their customers may use anywhere MasterCard is accepted in the U.S.

The program is part of the planned family of Vantiv prepaid initiatives, which will include a single-value card, incentive/rebate/reward/disbursement cards, payroll cards, parent/teen cards and campus cards, according to a press release.

Vantiv, which was known until the summer as Fifth Third Processing Solutions, is a joint venture of Fifth Third Bancorp and Advent International.

In the May-June issue we examine value-added products and services. What's the right mix of value-added offerings, and what's new in value-added opportunities? The issue also focuses on the EMV conversion's lack of revenue-enhancing possibilities, the shift toward providing full point-of-sale systems, predictions of merchants' impatience with the fixed acquirer network fee and the threat that comes with PayPal's e-signature deal.
